Disaster Movie

In DISASTER MOVIE, the filmmaking team behind the hits "Scary Movie," "Date Movie," "Epic Movie" and "Meet The Spartans" this time puts its unique, inimitable stamp on one of the biggest and most bloated movie genres of all time — the disaster film. DISASTER MOVIE follows the comic misadventures of a group of ridiculously attractive twenty-somethings during one fateful night as they try to make their way to safety while every known natural disaster and catastrophic event — asteroids, twisters, earthquakes, the works — hits the city and their path as they try to solve a series of mysteries to end the rampant destruction. Taking aim at everything and everyone, from "Indiana Jones" and "Iron Man" to Amy Winehouse and "High School Musical," DISASTER MOVIE lampoons the blockbuster movie, pop culture icons and public figures along the way as Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer satirize everything as only they can.

Publicist confirms: Thurman is engaged to Busson

It’s official: Uma Thurman will marry financier Arpad "Arki" Busson.

"I can confirm she is engaged," Thurman’s representative, Stephen Huvane, told The Associated Press in an e-mail. Huvane didn’t immediately respond Monday when asked for further details.

Thurman filed for divorce from Ethan Hawke in 2004. They have two children. The 38-year-old actress was previously married to Gary Oldman.

Busson has two sons with Elle Macpherson.

Thurman received an Oscar nomination for 1994’s "Pulp Fiction." Her screen credits also include the "Kill Bill" thrillers and "My Super Ex-Girlfriend."

Will Smith’s school insists it’s not Scientologist

LOS ANGELES (AP) Will Smith ’s soon-to-open private school is not a Scientology facility, as some reports have suggested, the academy’s director said.

Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, have founded the New Village Academy, scheduled to open in September.

The school will use instructional methods developed by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard called study technology. And a few teachers belong to the church.

But the couple say they are not Scientologists, and the academy’s director insists the facility has no religious affiliation.

"We are a secular school, and just like all nonreligious independent schools, faculty and staff do not promote their own religions at school or pass on the beliefs of their particular faith to children," New Village Academy director Jacqueline Olivier told the Los Angeles Times.

Oliver said some of the school’s staffers are Scientologists, Muslim, Christian or Jewish.

In addition to reading and math, the school offers classes on yoga, robotics and etiquette.

Plot Summary: The life of an anonymous assassin takes an unexpected turn when he travels to Thailand to complete a series of contract killings. Joe (Nicolas Cage), a remorseless hitman, is in Bangkok to execute four enemies of a ruthless crime boss named Surat. He hires Kong (Shahkrit Yamnarm), a street punk and pickpocket, to run errands for him with the intention of covering his tracks by killing him at the end of the assignment. Strangely, Joe, the ultimate lone wolf, instead finds himself mentoring the young man while simultaneously being drawn into a tentative romance with a local shop girl. As he falls further under the sway of Bangkok’s intoxicating beauty, Joe begins to question his isolated existence and let down his guard… just as Surat decides it’s time to clean house.

Directors Oxide Pang and Danny Pang ("The Eye") paint an explosive picture of the Bangkok underworld, illuminated with neon and saturated in violence. Based on the Pang Brothers’ wildly popular Hong Kong action film of the same name "Bangkok Dangerous" is written by Jason Richman.

The Last Mistress

Catherine Breillat’s adaptation of An Old Mistress stars Fu’ad Ait Aatou as Ryno de Marigny, and Asia Argento as Vellini, two lovers in 19th century Paris. The two have been passionately involved for nearly a decade, but de Marigny attempts to end their relationship now that he is engaged to Hermangarde (Roxane Mesquida), a respectable young woman. As the bride-to-be’s grandmother forces de Marigny to confront his past as a notorious womanizer, the film flashes back to reveal the intense decade the lovers shared. Although de Marigny appears to want to shut Vellini out forever, her passions may be far too much for him to deny. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

The Last Mistress Reviewed By Lauren Kaminsky

By her own account, The Last Mistress is Catherine Breillat’s most accessible film, the only one that doesn’t set out to break any taboos. On first blush her claim seems indisputable, since the shock-loving director of Fat Girl , Anatomy of Hell , and Romance has here made a corseted nineteenth-century costume drama. But I have to respectfully disagree with her assertion, even though it comes from the queen of on-screen female sexuality herself.

Another Lohan saga: Another Lohan?

Another chapter has been added to the Lohan family saga and this time, it may be another Lohan.

Michael Lohan, father of actress Lindsay, spoke Friday night with reporters gathered outside Hollywood’s Ritual Supper Club for a news conference concerning a woman’s recent claim that she had a daughter by him 13 years ago. Lohan was joined by his girlfriend Erin Muller at the event, which also served as a launch party for the online comedy series Wannabeme.tv, which co-stars Michael Lohan.

"If I wasn’t Lindsay’s dad or Michael Lohan, this wouldn’t be getting any attention," he said.

Lohan said he once had a relationship with a woman named Kristi Horn and that he hadn’t seen her in 12 years. He said the two were seeing each other while he was separated from Dina Lohan, and the woman was going through a divorce. Lohan said he learned of the claim after receiving letters from the woman and photos of the girl purported to be his daughter when he was incarcerated.
